ANDREW Mitchell MP has visited Good Hope Hospital to discuss plans for extra car parking at the site.

Mr Mitchell said he spoke to senior staff at the hospital about plans to install a demountable parking deck over an existing car park, providing 250 extra spaces.

He addressed the issue after constituents in roads near to the hospital raised concerns about many staff parking off-site.

During the visit – the MPs third to Good Hope in two months – he met with Dr Mark Newbold, chief executive of the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, and Susan Moore, managing director of Good Hope Hospital.

Mr Mitchell also discussed the new complaints system, refurbishment of the A&E and neo-natal departments, and the hospital's current capital investment.

He said: "I watch all developments at Good Hope Hospital with great care to ensure my constituents receive the best possible support when they need it.

"I raised the issue of parking at the hospital on this occasion, as I have on others.

"There is now a chance that further progress can be made on this matter.

"I will, of course, continue to ensure that this issue is monitored closely by management at both Heart of England and Good Hope."
