SUTTON RFC SECOND XV 120 LEAMINGTON 0

SUTTON Second XV swept into the final of the Warwickshire Cup for the second year in succession when they overwhelmed a dazed Leamington side.

Sutton scored 18 tries, with ex-first team fly half Steve Piper controlling events and kicking an incredible 15 conversions.

Fast scoring Sutton reached 49-0 by half time, and they passed the magic 100 with 10 minutes left to play.

The spectacular try scoring spree was led by backs Ewan Tweedie and Rob Watts, who each scored a hat-trick, while Ian Miller and Andy Tovey contributed a brace each.

Full back Matt Gillick added a try, along with centre Dave Roberts and fly half Piper. Youngsters Alex Morgan and Tom Harris also scored, while the forwards weighed in with tries for hooker Jon Ursell, who had an outstanding game, along with James Hegarty and no 8 Simon Millard, who grounded a pushover try.

The outstanding team performance and the manner of the victory was a credit to all the players, the club coaches and the loyal supporters who enjoyed a feast of running rugby on a cold but special Sunday afternoon at the Roger Smoldon Memorial Ground.
