JUDO: Hardy Spicer Judo Club star James Austin had to settle for a silver medal at the British Senior Closed Championships in Sheffield last weekend.
Austin won his first four contests in rapid fashion with convincing ippon victories, and also edged a tighter affair against Joshua Butler.
However, defeat to Peter Cousins in the final contest meant the latter took the gold and Austin finished second.
Cricket: Sutton Coldfield Cricket Club held their annual awards ceremony at Moor Hall Golf Club last week.

Football: Sutton Coldfield Town Veterans travelled to title rivals Cadburys last Sunday and were narrowly beaten 2-1.
Although not at their best, Sutton were the better side for 20 minutes.
However, Cadbury broke away to take the lead through Morley.
Sutton equalised just after the interval when Casson's excellent free-kick was headed home by the free scoring Allsop.
The game continued to be a scrappy affair, with Sutton receiving some hefty treatment from their opponents which went unpunished.
However, with 15 minutes to go, Clark was adjudged to have handled in the area and Bourne gave Goodwin no chance from the resultant spot kick.
Sutton had a couple of half chances late on, but were unable to find the breakthrough.
On Sunday, the Royals Vets return to cup action and travel to Wilnecote Cricket Club, Tamworth, to play Wilnecote Old Boys, kick off at 10.30am.
