Did you know that there is a local society dedicated to the promotion of the arts? You can enjoy monthly talks by distinguished experts from cultural centres like Tate Modern, the V&A, and the British Museum. Afterwards, you can mingle with like-minded fellow members over a cup of tea and a biscuit - and even some of the harder stuff on celebratory occasions.
Sutton Coldfield Decorative and Fine Arts Society has over 150 members and meets on the second Wednesday afternoon of the month at All Saints Centre, Four Oaks B74 4AG, at 2.15pm.
Recent topics have included: Kandinsky; The British Portrait; Henry Purcell: Music and Art in Restoration England; The Victorian Kitchen; and Italian Gardens.
Study days, and educational visits to art exhibitions, museums and famous gardens further open up the world of the arts to members.
