Following his side's latest defeat, Sutton Coldfield Town assistant boss Neil Tooth has admitted that they will need a huge change in fortunes to make the play-offs.

In the only fixture in the league to survive the weather, the Royals were gunned down by a quickfire Liam Shotton double as they lost 2-0 at home to Kidsgrove.

The loss means that Sutton have gone five league games without a win, and are now five points off the play-offs having played more games than the majority of their rivals.

"If I'm honest, the play-offs are now beyond us," Tooth told the club's website after the game. "We are relying on other teams to slip up."

"What we need to focus on is getting back our form and securing a run of wins, then you never know. It seems stupid but you could almost tell that we were a team not playing for anything (against Kidsgrove)."

He continued: "Collectively our recent form has been bad, and at the minute I just can't see any light at the end of the tunnel."

Sutton now have twelve games left to try and turn things around, and Tooth has spoken of the need to improve performances.

"I told the players after the game that we draw a line under today and move on. We all know we are capable of much better and we owe it to the committee and the fans to improve, and improve quickly."

Are you a Coles Lane regular? If so, what has gone wrong in the last few months? Do you still believe the side can reach the play-offs?
